Deion Sanders Says He Will Still Be The Head Coach At Colorado In 5-10 Years

Let me start by saying this: tough question. What is Deion supposed to say? Because if he says the truth, he may risk losing important things like future recruits and future funding if they know he's not there for the long haul. But with that being said, I'll take the Under on his statement. In fact, I would imagine the Under 10 Years is currently being offered at -10000000000000. No one actually believes this, right? Because at the end of the day, I know it's only been a year of Coach Prime at Colorado, but there's really only two possible ways the rest of his tenure there can play out. Let's start with the most likely.

1. Deion loses at Colorado....and leaves

I want to be on record that I think what Deion has done for Colorado and their failing program needs to be commended. He took a football team that no one cares about at a school that no one cares about and completely reversed their fortune. So to the haters that point out the Colorado lost their last 6 games of the season and made this look like the silliest decision ever....

....need to chill out. But with that being said, I think it's clear the end of the season was more accurate of what's to come than the beginning of the season. Colorado looks to be more of a reality show than a football program, and unless Deion all of a sudden starts getting the biggest, fattest, strongest dudes on the lines to come play for him, I don't care how many Travis Hunters he gets.

So in my eyes, the most likely outcome is he strings together a few 4-8 seasons and realizes it's "time to spend more time with family".

2. Deion wins at Colorado.....and moves to a better spot

....if he does prove everyone wrong and actually is a good football coach, and the move to the Big 12 does mean that the schedule gets a little lighter and he wins a bunch of games....he's gone too, right? Ain't no way that you look up in 5 years and Colorado is playing in the College Football Playoff, and then Florida State comes open, and Deion says I'm staying in Boulder. No fucking chance.

Deion's tenure at Colorado reminds me of a mid-major college basketball player. If he's bad and doesn't play, he's transferring out to find a spot he can play. If he's good, he's transferring out to get more NIL money and a bigger opportunity. No chance he settles down and is a decade long coach at....Colorado.
